The Kolubara district is located in western Serbia and covers an area of 2, 474 km2. The administrative center of the district is the town of Valjevo, which sits on the banks of the Kolubara River.
This is an industrially well developed area with a metals industry, agricultural production and food processing industry.
Divcibare, a plateau of the mountain Maljen and the Vrujci Spa are the two major tourist attractions in this area.
The cultural symbols of this area are two villages: Brankovina, home to several historical personalities became a history in itself and Petnica with its young researcher’s center.
