Silistra province is located on the north-eastern part of the country, bordering Romania. It was named after the city Sliven, which is its administrative center.

Srebarna Nature Reserve comprises the Lake Srebarna and its surroundings. The nature reserve is located on the Via Pontica, a bird migration route, and is included in the UNESCO World Heritage list. 179 species of bird nest in the region. Some of the species typical for the lake are represented in the lake's museum.
Some of the sights of the region are a Medieval fortress, the Ottoman fort, and a Roman tomb.
